Just Right; But This HC-03 DLX is the Same Guitar as the HC-03 October 22, 2009 BJB (Phoenix, AZ) 9 out of 11 found this review helpful
We bought this on a Daily Lightning deal at, what we consider, a fair price. With only an hour to decide whether or not to purchase, we immediately searched and studied whatever the internet had to offer on the Hohner HC-03DLX only to find out that no such guitar existss. According to the Hohner website (and anything else we could find on the web), only the HC-03 exists. Why AMAZON added the suffix DLX still has not been clarified to us. When we received the guitar, there was a label inside the opening that states both the serial number and the model number. Of course, the model # was HC-03. AMAZON provided us with excellent customer service on this matter and our many inquiries and assured us they'd be looking into the matter. We were concerned b/c there is quite a difference in price on AMAZON between the HC-03 and the HC-03DLX which is, in fact, just the HC-03. Again, we'd like to emphasize that the AMAZON reps were cooperative and receptive to what we were trying to point out. It is our hope that this model # confusion will be resolved and that since they are the same guitar, they will be priced accordingly. Anyway, our 9 year old son is loving it. It fits him beautifully; he even hugs it-- the satin finish is more masculine than a high-gloss finish, and we are confident he will get a couple years of use with this size. Info from the Hohner website and reviews from other sites gave us the boost of confidence we needed to go ahead and purchase at a very fair price.
Great for the price October 26, 2009 J. Liu (Bellevue, WA USA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Got it in the lightening deal for my 9 years old son. Both he and I like it. The guitar was not tuned when we receive it, but it's pretty easy for us to tune it since we have an electronic tuner. It sounded pretty good after I tuned it. If you are a beginner like me, you might want to get a book to learn how to tune it. The upper (thinner) three strings are nylon, the bottom (thicker) three are metal. I am very happy with the price, this would be a good starter for the next 2 or 3 years.
Good for the money December 28, 2009 Simulaman (The dark side of the mind) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this Guitar for my daughter. I consider it a good value for the $70 I spent. It sounds OK with the strings it came with; however, I would plan on replacing them with a better set. It is easy to tune and play. Perfect for a first guitar!
Good for a kid January 30, 2010 David & Jennifer Mitchell (Gilbert, AZ) Got the guitar on special and it is defianletly worth it at a discounted price. The string quality is the reason it gets 4 vs. 5 stars.
Best Guitar for 9 to 12 years old kids January 23, 2010 Connie (North Carolina) This guitar is excellent. First, you need to tune it, but overall it is an excellent guitar. I guarantee it that your big kids will love it when playing with it. My daughter said it was the best Christmas gift ever!
